Dyspraxia: How To Thrive As An Adult

0 ratings

It seems that whilst everyone knows of learning disabilities like Dyslexia, ADHD, etc, not everyone is aware of Dyspraxia. And many who are aware tend to think that it is just a coordination issue which affects children but by the time we reach adulthood,  we grow out of it.   Unfortunately Dyspraxia isn't something which we just grow out of. Pretty much all children with Dyspraxia grow up to become Dyspraxic adults, with whole host of separate issues.

In Dyspraxia: How To Thrive As Adults, we will be looking at what exactly Dyspraxia is and how it affects us as adults. Yet we also be looking at things like:

• the different types of Dyspraxia (yes there is more than one type of Dyspraxia)

• the issues with which can arise with regards Dyspraxia and getting (as well as holding down) a job

• how Dyspraxia can make it very hard for one to actually make friends and/or attract a romantic partner

• what you can do to actually improve career prospects; including how to uncover your skills and talents to make you too valuable to get rid of when the next round of company redundancies come around

• how to improve your social prospects by remembering things like how life is a numbers game in that the more times you try something, the greater your odds of success

• the positive half of Dyspraxia: the positive attributes which are common amongst Dyspraxics

As well as looking at the various aspects of Dyspraxia, we will also be looking at something which I see as an ongoing problem: the rise of Neurodiversity Model and how despite the appeal of the model, it just isn't backed by science.
